Skydive Burnaby - Pick your Skydiving Discipline

Relative Work? Arrr-Dub? Formation Skydiving? No matter what you call it, we can get you involved.
Freefall-coaching-2way

Hanging out with some friends, at 14000 ft.
There's nothing better.

We've been bringing skydivers together (pun intended) for over a decade now and there is no limit to how much fun you can have with one, two, ten or fifty of your friends.

Skydive Burnaby has always taken pride in our roots of Formation Skydiving, whether you're need coaching for CSPA license requirements, jumping with friends, training with a team or setting a new national record we have the ability to get you in the sky with like-minded people.

Our annual Big-Way events only happen because we have a group of skilled formation flyers interested in getting better every weekend. With organized loads, expert coaches and all of the fun jumpers here, Skydive Burnaby is Ontario's FS mecca.

Quite often the management team will send a videographer along for 'training purposes' but don't let that stop you from adding a camera flyer into the mix for your special jumps. Professional freefall photographers are available for hire most days here at the DZ and who knows, maybe you'll end up with a published photo in one of the worlds top rated skydiving magazines.

Formation skydiving at Burnaby is a challenging and progressive discipline. You should jump at the chance to learn, play and experience the energy of flying with this excellent group of skydivers.

2008 Canadian National Vertical Formation Record.

We have been welcoming the Freeflyers here at SB for as long as there has been Freefly. Home of the original Gravity Pirates Film Festival and host to numerous Freefly events you can always find challenging and fun freefly skydives here. The dropzone has a number of Atmosphere Dolphin (AD) rated jumpers and their skill levels will push you to learn new and exciting ways to fly.

Originally Freeflyers were the dropzone freaks but with time comes growth and knowledge and this is evident every weekend here. With jumps ranging from 2 Way sitflys to world record training camps Skydive Burnaby welcomes all types of flyers.

Since 2005 we have been bringing world champion and world record freefly team Arizona Arsenal to the dropzone for seminars, coaching, organizing and light-hearted, high speed fun. Sara and Steve Curtis bring a wealth of knowledge with them on every trip and it is in your best interest to come out and hang with these amazing people. It's always a treat to have them at the DZ and, of course, with Sara being a Skydive Burnaby transplant, we take pride in knowing that yet another world champion calls Skydive Burnaby home.

So if you're into Tracking Dives, Hybrids, Vertical Formation Skydiving (VFS) or are just figuring out Sitfly, join us here and discover that the realm of Freefly is alive and kicking at Skydive Burnaby.

Check out the Events page for upcoming Freefly skills camps and other related events.
Q. So what do you get when you dig a 325 x 185 foot hole in the ground, fill it with water, add pool noodles, swoop gates and a sandy beach at one end?
A. You get Lake Burnaby! Canada's ONLY professionally designed Canopy Pilots Swoop Pond.
Canopy_Pilots_in_Lake_Burnaby_at_Skydive_Burnaby.

A 'Wet' jumper watches the swoop of another.

Skydive Burnaby started creating the ultimate swoopers playground in 2005 and with commitment, a creative design team and a solid vision they built a world class canopy pilots paradise.

Using the FAI World Championships of Canopy Piloting course requirements as guidelines, an innovative and interchangeable course was laid out. By adding a built-in course marking system and trucking in 20 tons of sand, Lake Burnaby is a professional, challenging and safe swoop arena.

So if you believe that your skydive really begins at 1000 ft, and that a spiraling 720 degree turn, powering out at 100 km/h and swooping 300 ft through blue water is your idea of fun, then we have the place for you.
Come challenge yourself and test the waters of Lake Burnaby.

*Please Note* High performance turns and swoop landings are not for everyone. Before attempting to swoop the pond you will have to prove your skills and show sound judgement during regular skydives at Skydive Burnaby. Yes, the pond was designed for the ultimate in safety, but it's still not forgiving if you make an error in your approach.

Know your limitations and stay within them.

A good canopy pilot can create a great looking swoop.
A great canopy pilot can do it 1000 times.
A simple mistake can change all of that.

Play safe and try not to get wet.
Skydive Burnaby has a team of skilled organizers available - no matter your experience level!
Skydiving_load_organizers_at_Skydive_Burnaby.

Belly Jumpers and Freeflyers get organized for a Hybrid jump.

With members of the staff and a core of world calibre jumpers at the DZ every weekend you can guarantee that we will have exciting, challenging and safe organized jumps available for all skill levels.

If you're working on your first 4 Way, getting dive practice for a Big Way slot or just looking for some fun jump partners ask at manifest for a load organizer and we can get you flying.

We have organizers for all disciplines and for all experience levels so feel free to find out what you're capable of and pick up some valuable skydiving information.

Just watch this great example.

If you look really closely I think we are actually moving forward at one point ;-)"

It might help a little bit that the Canadian National Style and Accuracy Champion is a core staff member here (Right, Scott!).

So if you are interested in gaining valuable canopy control skills, learning to turn a style set in record time or just want to experience the first competitive skydiving discipline we can assist you in going back in time to rediscover your future.

With an on-site accuracy tuffet you will always have a safe and soft place to practice your precision parachute control skills.

Canopy Formation Skydiving aka. CReW

Canopy Formation jumpers fly a '3 Stack' back to the DropZone.

Canopy Relative Work aka. CReW is a longstanding discipline in skydiving and one of the most misunderstood.

Yes, one of the primary objectives of a safe skydive is to get yourself to the ground WITHOUT colliding with another parachutist, that is if you're not doing it intentionally.

This brings up to our next chapter!!! Doing it ON PURPOSE!

Canopy Formation skydiving is exciting and challenging. It gives you a whole new perspective on the sport and embeds a good number of safety techniques directly into the jumper.

There has been an increase in CReW jumpers at Skydive Burnaby and who can blame them. Imagine extending your skydive to last more than 10 minutes while gliding down the coast line with your friends hanging out directly below you.

This is not for the timid or untrained, but it is quite beautiful and exhilarating when done correctly and safely.

Come on down to Skydive Burnaby and you just might find yourself 'Wrapped Up' in excitement.
Imagine landing your parachute in front of 30 000 screaming sports fans. The Skydive Burnaby Parachute Demonstration team can bring you to spectacular events in style.
